Using the DBInsights Agent
Step 1: Download the DBInsights Agent
Start by accessing your dashboard on the DBInsights portal. Navigate to the "Get Started with DBInsight" section. Here, you'll find the "Agent Download" button. Click it to download the lightweight agent application designed for secure execution on your system.
Step 2: Retrieve Your Key
Once in the "Get Started with DBInsight" section, locate the Key Generator. Copy the key displayed on the screen. This key is crucial for authorizing the agent during setup. Keep it handy as you’ll need it shortly.
Step 3: Launch and Configure the Agent
Open the downloaded DBInsights Agent on your system. You’ll be prompted to enter the key you copied earlier. Paste the key into the required field and click Next to proceed with the configuration.
Step 4: Select Your Database Platform
The DBInsights Agent supports a variety of database platforms. For now, choose MS SQL, which is currently supported in the first phase of deployment. Confirm your selection to move forward.
Step 5: Enter Database Credentials
Provide the necessary details to connect securely to your database server:
- Host: Enter the address of your database host.
- User: Input the username with access to the database.
- Password: Provide the password associated with the username.
Step 6: Select the Database
The agent will retrieve a list of all databases available on the connected server. Browse the list and select the database you want to analyze. Confirm your selection to proceed.
Step 7: Perform the Database Analysis
With the database selected, the DBInsights Agent will initiate the analysis process. The agent securely exports the meta data to the DBInsights Ai modules which processes the data and makes the documentation and insights accessible on the DBInsights portal for detailed review and further action.
